THE SWIMMING POOL
For his first exhibition in Sofia, Vincent Rüfen presents scenes from dreams in which water, and more specifically swimming pools, is the central theme. Places for rest and play, where bodies undress, come closer to each other and show themselves as they are, without pretense, with pride or modesty. Swimming pools, whether public or private, are symbols of social belonging and self-representation and tell us a lot about the people who bathe in them. Vincent Rüffen plays with the theme of bathing, which has long been treated in painting from Ingres to Picasso or Renoir, via Hockney, working on everyday scenes in which saturated colors explode, filling those who observe them with joy!
This is a series of large-format works, some of which will be exhibited in La Rochelle (Galerie ephemere), Hong Kong (Galerie Odds and Ends), and elsewhere.
