The five musicians from Cabaret Contemporain play electronic music with acoustic instruments. This allows us to dance to music created by real instruments, not just machines! Cabaret Contemporain's art has the same intensity as music created for club and festival dance floors. The only difference is that their music is not performed by machines or software, but by acoustic instruments.
"Our idea," they say, "is to make club music, but by hand, like craftsmen. It's as if our band is turning into a kind of dance machine." The band consists of five musicians and a sound engineer: Fabrizio Rath on piano, Gianni Caserotto on guitar, Julien Loutellier on drums, Ronan Courti and Simon Drapie on double bass, not to mention Pierre Favrez at the console. All of them have a dual musical education and move freely between the worlds of classical and contemporary music and that of underground or popular music. They also share a common passion for the futuristic techno of the 1990s, created by Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, and Drexciya, which they rediscover in their own way. Not as an exercise in style practiced by virtuoso musicians, but rather as a new path for contemporary music. Their latest album, Séquence collective, draws its energy directly from their concert practice and can therefore be listened to as a condensed interpretation of their inventions and stage experience. After collaborating with Étienne Joumet and Château-Flight, they invited Arno Rebotini (César Award winner for Best Film Music) to join them in the studio for two tracks. His synthesizers amplify the band's tremendous collective energy.
